South Pointe Park is at the southern tip of Miami Beach, right where the cruise ships squeeze through the channel on their way out to sea. It’s also where Max meets most of his dogs. Every new arrival, big or small, gets the same treatment: he runs straight over and tries to get a game going. He’ll gladly let the other dog keep the ball, as long as it plays with him. Most do. Some, like this Lab, have a job to do and simply walk through him. It makes no difference to Max. He has never once taken it personally, and he has never once given up.
